Here is the palette I have created for the upcoming wine and cheese tasting party that some friends and I are hosting. The photos come from mainly two blogs: Honey of a Thousand Flowers and Love and Splendor, both of which you should check out if you love pretty floral arrangements and decorating!
I am planning to make a wall of strips of fabric, just like the melon-coloured one on the bottom left-hand corner of the collage, using olive, off-white, and possibly butter-yellow. Then on the table (covered first in white) there may be a table runner (raspberry coloured? Gold? ...Are runners tacky?) and jars of flowers of most of these shades.
Originally I was thinking of keeping the colours simple: olive, white, beige. Then I thought: just because it is supposed to be a fairly calm, "cultured" party doesn't mean I can't inject it with some of my own personality! Hence some of the richer tones like raspberry and periwinkle (never thought I would think that colour was a good idea).
Keep checking back to see how it goes!
