Bright Things in January

So... the ridiculousness of Christmas is over... who can help winter now?  What can we do with months and months of cold?

There are many things I'm trying to do to make myself feel okay over the winter.  Some are:

1. Eating fish with Omega 3 fatty acids... for health.

2. Eating lots of fruits and vegetables... and then eating lots of sugars/carbs because that's all I really want.  And repeat.  I'm trying.

3. Going on the exercise bike/for walks.  That's a lie.  I don't go for walks.  But I plan to do some skating on a local river soon that the city clears a path over.  It's fun.

4. Getting lots of sleep.

5. Actually doing my homework/housework when I'm supposed to, so I don't feel lousy about myself.

6. And looking at beautiful pictures!  I'm so inspired by the artistic ladies at dosfamily.com who weave their family lives into their artistic lives very nicely... it's great to see mothers who stay true to their passions, but still seem to find plenty of time to spend with their families.  Also, I sometimes feel that to be artistic you either have to be a) young and bitter and penniless, in art school; b) old and rich; or c) jaded and in your mid-thirties, slightly overweight, with a job writing for a newspaper, selling your soul and hating yourself.  I like that this blog is selling me an alternative image: young moms who enjoy creativity and believe in themselves.
