These pictures on www.thesartorialist.com are labelled as "androgynous" (see the 'tags' used to categorize the pictures directly underneath the second shot). I suppose this comes from the "emo-boy" hairstyle, because other than the hair, the woman in the pictures seems to be dressing in a style very typical of modern, stylish women, especially in the picture where she has a belt accentuating her waist, and leggings & a short skirt/tunic top used to accentuate her thighs.
I love this hairstyle- it's pretty much what I'm going for. I guess I somewhat take offense to the idea that having short hair makes my appearance seem somewhat neutral or indecisive about which gender I want to present myself as. Is long hair the only feminine hairstyle? Am I being overly sensitive? Am I subconsciously trying to present myself in a way that I do not consciously choose? I don't think I'm trying to look like a boy...
