Just thought I would share a few pictures of our home so that I can brag about inexpensive decorating, and how I can pull it off. The most expensive thing in here is the love seat, which set us back $50.

Our couches are from Kijiji and Value Village. The banana-shaped coffee table is from MCC, a thrift store run by the Mennonite Church. I think I found it for $10. The print that is tucked onto the back of the love seat is from Kensington Market in Toronto, bought with a friend. Probably, before that, it came from India. |

These pictures and pillows are probably the most dollar-per-pound objects in our living room. The pictures were on sale at Home Sense for $25 each, and the pillows were $15 each at Walmart. Yes, I bought them there. Condemn me if you like. |

I bought the lamp for $5 from Value Village, the shade for $1 from Salvation Army, and the potted plant containers from various thrift stores. The lamp was originally gold, with a huge pleated shade, but I spray-painted it Marigold with paint from Home Depot ($7) and tossed the shade. |

The picture frames are from Salvation Army, painted with a sample-size pot of beige paint I had lying around from a decorating project. The mattes are pieces of cotton I had lying around, and the pictures are color photocopies from a book of illustrations we bought second-hand. The copies cost $1.50 to make. The book was probably $2. The flowers are from Safeway. |
